I finally watched Free! I did not expect much from an anime created when fangirls went crazy over shirtless boys in a TV commercial, but there was great comedy, a solid story, and really lovable characters... and of course, the animation was beautiful. Free is the kind of tongue-in-cheek parody that isn't biting or bitter about it, but instead shows love for the things that it parodies and embraces all of it. The Princess Bride did the same thing.
